How fitting. We have discovered that the Out of Home Marketing Association is using illegal billboards to promote CityBillboardTax.ca.
For example, take this Titan Outdoor vinyl fascia sign at 76 Church Street:

A Staff Report presented to City Council in support of the proposed Billboard Tax and Signs By-Law states that Toronto’s billboard industry submitted false information with respect to its revenues during the extensive by-law creation process.

The City of Toronto has released an independent economic analysis of the proposed Billboard Tax, conducted by Professor David Amborski of Ryerson University.
The economic analysis concludes that the proposed billboard tax representsĀ  “less than 7% (on average) of estimated annual gross revenue” for Toronto’s billboard industry.
