Mississauga Makes Pattison Remove Two Illegal Pillars at Port Credit Beer Store
We have succeeded in getting two Pattison Pillars removed from the Port Credit Beer Store.
We wrote about these signs in Pattison Builds Three Illegal Pillars At Mississauga Beer Stores and filed a complaint with Mississauga with this letter [PDF].
This is what the two signs looked like in late December 2007:
After we filed the complaint, it was determined that the first party Beer Store sign on the lot was also illegal. Then, the Beer Store applied for a variance to maintain the first party sign.
City of Mississauga Planning Staff recommended approval of the first party sign with the following conditions [PDF, pages 8-15]:
Mississauga City Council adopted that Staff Report and the two Pattison Pillars have now been removed from the Beer Store:

Meanwhile, illegal Pattison Pillars continue to proliferate across Toronto.

The pillars at the Beer Store on Dundas West, near Jane… I don’t know if they are illegal or not, but block sight lines for cars leaving the parking lot, making it difficult to see oncoming traffic without nudging into the road. I complained to council office but never heard back. Can illegal signs tell me if these are illegal or not?

Never mind - I see them on the map. Illegal replacement of once-legal signs. Sigh.
