More Abcon Lies as Les Abro and John McMulkin Lie to the Buildings Department to Obtain Another Illegal Permit
And long after the Buildings Department first became aware the outdoor advertising companies were submitting false information to obtain illegal permits, they believed Abcon’s lies.
This is Abcon’s sign at 31 Widmer:

Here’s how Abcon obtained a permit for this sign. The zoning examiner (whose manifest devil-may-care insouciance towards zoning by-laws we previously examined here and here) wrote Abro an email asking him to answer three questions about the sign:

Abro replied by stating that the sign complied with 60 metre separation requirements.

The examiner then issued the permit.
On August 3, 2007, long after the Buildings Department had investigated tens of signs that were built too close to other billboards, Building Inspector David Callahan issued a notice of violation concerning the size of the sign, but not its proximity to nearby signs:

It was only after IllegalSigns.ca filed a complaint concerning 60 metre proximity in later August 2007 that Inspector Callahan noticed that there were other signs nearby:

The sign is now down. It is located within 47 metres of a legally installed Cieslok backlit ground sign in a parking lot along Adelaide:
