312 Queen Street West: Half Re-Erected
We last wrote about 312 Queen Street on June 25, 2007 in Before and After: Three Down at Queen and Soho where we reported on the removal of the illegal signs at that intersection.
Yesterday, one of the signs was re-erected. This is what 312 Queen Street West looked like for most of the past six months (with the exception of a 2 week period where the Megeposter sign was advertising H&M):

Yesterday, one of those two signs, not the one operated by Megaposter, was re-erected. This is what the wall looks like today:

This re-erected sign is actually operated directly by the Ultra Supper Club. There are no permits for either the Megaposter sign or the Ultra sign. On March 21, 2006, Officer Danny Baird issued this Notice of Violation ordering the sign removed. The sign was then advertising “Stella.” On August 1, 2006, Officer Baird spoke with Dalim Chowdhury of Ultra who informed Danny that Ultra was “in the process of preparing drawings for permit”. On August 2, 2006, Chowdhury sent this e-mail to Baird informing him that a Preliminary Plan Review was made for the sign. The permit application was reject on account of the sign failing to comply with separation requirements and size restrictions. In July 2007, this building was listed historical. At this point, no third party signs are permitted on this building even it they complied with size or separation requirements.
