Street Study: Ward 7 Portion of Finch Avenue

In today’s Street Study, we look at the Ward 7 section of Finch Ave. Finch is a massive street that crosses the city. The illegal billboards that we have identified in the Ward 7 section are all Pattison Outdoor 10′X40′ billboards operating under permits for smaller signs. Councillor Mammoliti’s Ward 7 is the Ward 20 of the suburbs – it has the most illegal billboards. If you don’t know about the 10′X40′ roof sign situation in North York, be sure to read The North York 10′ X 40′ Roof Sign Mess.

There are additional illegal billboards on Ward 7′s Finch Ave, including at the hydro corridor north of the courthouse on the 2000-block; but our research into those signs is in progress.

The back to back 10′X40′s at this Hakim shop are on the north side of the street, at the corner of Finch and Gracedale Blvd.

2437 Finch West – illegal 10′X40′

Another strip mall with illegal back to back 10′ X40′s

1947-2013 Finch West, Finch Frontage – illegal 10′X40′

This mall, at the south west corner of Jane and Finch, has two illegal Pattison 10′X40′s. This is an interesting one. It is a 10′X40′ under a 10′X20′ permit. A varaince was required for this sign, and was granted to Just Cole of Pattison in November 1998 with this decision. The variance was required due to this sign on the Jane Street frontage:

The northerly face has an illegal 10′X40′

The Buildings Department has rejected Abcon’s permit application for 77 Elm and 415 Yonge

What’s Mammoliti like in terms of his attitude to billboards?
